St. Lucia is an absolute jewel of an island, offering everything that you think of when the "Caribbean" pops into your head. It's also an island that is near and dear to my heart, since my husband and I had our honeymoon there!
Boasting spectacular beaches, lush rainforest, incredible resorts, and no shortage of excursions, this island provides the perfect getaway for beachgoers and adventurers alike.
To help you plan the perfect St. Lucia getaway, here are some of the most incredible destinations and drool-worthy sights this Caribbean island has to offer!
The North Side
Northern St. Lucia is brimming with activities and is the location of St. Lucia's capital, Castries. If you're looking for beautiful beaches, cultural immersion, incredible markets, or zip-lining fun, the north side of the island is the place for you!
This is also a fabulous choice if you are interested in water sports of any kind! The beautiful waters of Rodney Bay are perfect for paddle boarding, sailing, snorkeling, or scuba diving. Or, if a relaxing day soaking up the sun is more your speed, Reduit Beach offers five miles of pristine white sand!
Pigeon Island National Park
Pigeon Island is a destination with rich history, formerly providing a hideout for pirates as well and having a complicated military background. Here you can hike to an incredible viewpoint and explore ruins of the former military fort. You can also enjoy Pigeon Island's sandy beaches and interpretation center, then grab a bite to eat at a wonderful restaurant!
The South Side
Closer to the charming former capital, Vieux Fort, southern St. Lucia is perfect for those searching for quiet beaches or the opportunity to explore the rainforest canopy. Picture yourself on a catamaran ride to view the majestic Piton mountains (we'll get to those in a minute!)
The south side of St. Lucia also appeals to adventure-lovers who think mud baths, hiking, and gorgeous waterfalls are the perfect addition to a vacation!
The Pitons
These iconic volcanic spires are a must-see on a trip to St. Lucia and are UNESCO world heritage sight. The Pitons are so majestic that, in my opinion, they should make their way onto everyone's St. Lucia itinerary.
For thrill-seekers looking for some serious cardio, you can choose a guided hike up the steep slopes of Gros Piton for St. Lucia's most breathtaking view. Or, if a more mild hike is more your style, the 1km Tet Paul Nature Trail offers a lovely view of Petit Piton.
Diamond Falls
Another incredible stop on the perfect St. Lucia itinerary is Diamond Falls. Located in St. Lucia's premiere botanical gardens, Diamond Falls are considered to be the most colorful waterfall in the Caribbean.
Here you can also spend time visiting the Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens, soak in the mineral baths, or visit the lovely town of Soufrière. You can't miss this wonderful destination in St. Lucia!
You probably didn't need much convincing, but in my opinion St. Lucia is one of the best destinations in the Caribbean for any traveler. This incredible island has a little something for everyone, so let me know if you think St. Lucia checks the boxes on your tropical vacation wishlist!
